Loft foam insulation removal

THE BRIEF

Many properties across the UK have a sprayed form of loft insulation and what back 20 years ago was considered a cost-effective way of saving money on energy and conserving heat is now serving as a problematic issue with the roof structure. The problem with the foam is, it consolidates tightly around the rafters and joists not allowing them to breathe properly then causing damp and then rot if not removed. This results in the biggest problem for homeowners with most mortgage lenders not lending against a property that has this form of spray foam insulation applied. We had this house in Poole, Dorset covered and foam free in a few days. They contacted us via email with photos of the loft area and a square meterage of foam to be removed.

THE SOLUTION

The stressful time they had, had was soon to come to an end and our team put them at ease with a detailed overview of what the process would be and the results that would be achieved. The way we work on a job such as this is using a glass media, we blast away the foam insulation back to the tile or felt with little to no disruption to either or the surrounding timber supports making sure the waste is contained to the loft area with sealing off the cavity and areas that would leak into the house.

THE RESULT

After every day more and more insulation was gone and the customer was feeling much better until after day 3 it was all gone and they could relax completely with luckily only a small amount of deterioration caused by the foam visible on a few lower timbers. A good job done and a very happy customer and mortgage lender!
