THE BRIEF
The Pure Blast team have always been proud of specialising in the marine industry, covering many different substrates including GRP, Aluminium, and wooden constructed boats. The system we use is very precise only removing what can be layer upon layer of anti-foul with no damage to precious gel coats or moving parts of the vessels. Whether your boat is in a field, on your driveway or in a designated boat yard we can have your pride and joy stripped back to its solid coating with all unwanted paint or anti-foul removed. This customer had their boat at a yard we work with extensively based in Portland and after arranging set up and positioning of the 24′ motorboat, we set up a fully enclosed plastic tent and a ground sheet to contain the dust and catch any anti-foul paint.
THE SOLUTION
We left a ½-inch line just below the water line, which would then be removed by the customer following the blasting work. This would be the only work that would need to be done after any blasting work on a vessel as the fine glass media would leave a perfectly keyed surface ready for the new subsequent coats of primer and topcoats.
THE RESULT
A full washdown of the vessel from top to bottom was needed and all of the waste was disposed of safely and properly as part of the clean-up. It all depends on the type of coating that is being removed but the majority of vessels 40′ and below can be done in a day’s work with very happy customers!
